End of an Era
Uh oh, guys…I’m feeling it today. This morning, when I woke up, I felt like I had sucked water up into my nose that made its way to my throat and is now slowly drifting to my ears. I have no explanation for this because these are not typical cold or flu symptoms for me (or possibly anyone), but I have an inkling this will not end well. My impending sickness was inevitable. I’ve sort of had an unheard of (for me) streak of decent health, which I’ve attributed to my surgically enhanced sinuses. I literally have not caught a full-blown cold in almost a year and a half. Amazing!
But I suppose all good things must come to an end. I’m being a tad bit melodramatic, I know. It’s just that, for someone who pretty much had an eight-year long sinus infection before some doctors decided to go in a remove some cysts and straighten some things out, I’ve been basking in the glow of wellness. And, well, I sort of thought my surgeon might have given me special powers. I guess not. Un-friend.
Although, to be fair to him, I’m technically not fully sick yet. I could very well wake up perfectly fine tomorrow morning. In which case, I’m sorry, Dr. Mahdavi. Nevertheless, I’m not feeling 100% today, so that’s what we’ll talk about.
Despite feeling less than excellent this morning, I went to work because I pride myself on never having used any of my sick time in the 15 months that I’ve worked here. I’m trying to set a record here, guys. But I know that if I’m going to make it to work one more day this week, I’m going to need to take it easy tonight (not that I had plans to do otherwise) and be proactive in this fight. Again with the drama…
I have a few go-to cold-fighting remedies, that consist mostly of fluids, zinc, fluids, echinacea, fluids, rest, fluids, repeat. But I would love to hear of any tips you all might have! We’re approaching a three-day weekend, so obviously there are worse times to get sick, but I would personally rather not spend my weekend quarantined to my bedroom, decorating the floor with crumpled tissues. Too much information? Sorry.
Hope everyone has a great evening! Send me those suggestions!
